You sat in your tiny suffocating office, holding the tablet in your trembling hands. It was a Thursday night, the fourth night of your work week. The time on the top of your tablet read 2:17 AM, the power percentage at the bottom was at 72%. You were barely into your shift, but it felt like it had been hours since you'd taken your post at this tiny metal desk. My body froze, but I felt like the panic was trying to burn me alive. I forced myself to take big, steady breaths. Nothing felt right. I finally got my body to move.
I threw the blankets off of me, and stood on shaky legs. I took a few staggering steps to the curtains and pulled one back. The lights were all of, which meant that it was night time.
I grazed my fingers across my stomach and flinched. It hurt to touch the wounded area still. I thought that it had healed already. I shook my head and pushed past the curtains. I forgot about the drop from the stage, and ended up in a heap on the ground.
